In-Person Examination in Analytical Biochemistry: A Rare and Meaningful Experience for Second-Year Students

Second-year students of the Department of Translational Medical Bioengineering Faculty of Biomedical Engineering took an in-person examination in the course
“Analytical Biochemistry and Instrumental Methods of Analysis”
– an event that has become truly rare and significant in the era of prolonged online learning.

For many students, this was the first in-person examination in their academic lives, featuring the traditional format:
👉 drawing examination tickets,
👉 direct interaction with instructors,
👉 and, most importantly, demonstration of practical skills, not only theoretical knowledge.

The examination placed a strong emphasis on hands-on competencies, which are essential for biochemistry- and analysis-oriented disciplines and for the future professional practice of biomedical engineers.

📸 The atmosphere of the exam is captured in photographs, including the moment when students drew their examination tickets – a symbolic return to classical university academic traditions.

We are pleased to report that all students successfully passed the examination, confirming a solid level of preparation and readiness to apply analytical and instrumental methods despite the challenging learning conditions of recent years.

This in-person assessment represents not only an important milestone in the students’ professional development but also a step toward restoring practice-oriented, high-quality education, which is fundamental to training specialists in biomedical engineering.
